Joy & F*cks

A post by Samyak Shah

"To be able to not give a f*ck, it doesn't have to be about who respects you; but about whether you respect yourself enough or not
Quite frankly, we all know and think that I'm going to go on a long rant about putting yourself first and being happy and what not, right?
Wrong!

Upping the ante, I've dedicated this post to the literal meanings of the two terms in the title:
JOY and F*CKS

Joy: the feeling of great pleasure and long-term happiness

F*ck: noun/verb used in various phrases to express annoyance, contempt or impatience

What you may/may not know is that joy and f*ck are related even at the level of definition, combine them with our general attitude towards life and we've got ourselves a serious philosophical lesson to learn.

Joy is an elongated period of happiness because if happiness is experience of short bursts of feeling amazing, then joy is nothing but a longer duration of experiencing bursts of feeling amazing. Many of us have a lot of trouble in being and then staying happy to be able to experience joy at its fullest because we feel and think that all good things come to an end and so will this period, which may not be completely false, but that doesn't point out that you can't be experiencing several periods of happiness everyday if not one complete joyous experience (although, it is really up to every individual to decide how elongated does happiness has to be to be able to call it joy)
"Familiarity breeds contempt" - Geoffrey Chaucer
F*ck has been used too often in the negative manner, which is why it has led to becoming a word that is hated and shoved disgust upon whenever someone uses it. Why? Because people don't always associate with the thing in question, but more with the perception of the thing in question. Then, what's going to happen if we start to think negatively about something? Exactly! It is going to create a negative image in our brains about it.

Joy is long term happiness and Fuck is when we express annoyance, now if we get used to being happy for so long, aren't we going to tip our balance and start getting annoyed because life is going to be sorted enough that we'd not be having any major troubles to overcome, wouldn't that get boring?
